Governor and Legislature Restore NJ STARSTRENTON, N.J.— Governor Chris Christie signed the FY 2011 State Budget on June 29, 2010. The budget includes restoration of the New Jersey Student Tuition Assistance Rewards Scholarship (NJ STARS) program. Fall 2010 incoming NJ STARS-eligible freshmen will receive tuition scholarships. NJ STARS sophomores will receive full tuition and fees scholarships and NJ STARS II recipients at public four-year colleges and universities will receive $6,000 to $7,000 scholarships, based on their grade point averages. "We are grateful to Governor Chris Christie and the bipartisan legislative leadership for restoring this important program for New Jersey's community college students," said NJCCC Chairman Ronald Winthers. "NJ STARS is a terrific incentive for high school students to excel academically, stay in state to attend college, and ultimately become productive members of the workforce here in New Jersey."
